Day Fourteen of my Interminable Confinement...

Fourteen days down, seven more to go...

Really, today wasn't half bad. I had people company in the backyard with me all day long. The Spokesguy, who doesn't interact with me much, spent all day out back burning gumballs and pine needles. He actually isn't such a bad character. When the Spokeswoman isn't around, he even gives me a quick pat on the head. I think that evil Spokeswoman must have told him not to play with us dogs, because he acts like he doesn't like us whenever she is in sight and just grumbles about us, but then when she isn't around, he pets us and talks to us. Of course, I wouldn't push him, even when he is being nice. I saw how he reacted that time Rivie went all psychotic and tried to rip Gloria's throat out...the Spokesguy came TEARING out of the house and before he could even get a hold of Rivie, she let loose of Gloria's throat and dove into the doghouse to hide. Mind you, the Spokeswoman had been out there trying to pry Rivie's teeth out of Gloria's throat without making any headway at all, but all the Spokesguy had to do was come out of the house and Rivie turned tail and ran. I was just a little pup at the time, but, I'm smart enough to know if Rivie has enough respect for him/fear of him/ to instantly snap out of full-blown psychosis, he must be a force to be reckoned with! He's awfully quiet, but I have a feeling he is not to be crossed.

Have I mentioned that Rivendell has issues? She was okay back before Shanachie began failing. Shanachie kept everyone in line. But, a few months before Shanachie passed on, Rivie decided to assume command. Poor old Gloria didn't care if she took charge, but, Rivie thought she needed to rip someone's throat out to establish her position as leader and, since I was still just a pup, she decided to focus her pent-up aggression on poor old never-hurt-even-a-fly, overgrown horse-of-a-dog Gloria. Luckily, as I've mentioned, the Spokesguy put a quick end to Rivie's reign of terror. HE'S the boss.

(You can just look at a picture of that crazed little Border Collie and see that she has issues! It's in her EYES! She acts so sweet 99% of the time, but there is always that psychotic streak of hers lurking just beneath the surface, ready to strike when you least expect it. Believe me, I have my hands full keeping her in line! Fortunately for me, I am nearly double her weight now. Of course that didn't help poor Gloria any, but, then, Gloria could be bullied by a mouse! I don't take any guff off anyone! Particularly not half-crazed little Napoleonic Border Collies!)

Ummm...you could definitely categorize Rivie as "alert"...actually Suzuki NAILED it when she chose the word "manic". Rivie has never been depressed a day in her life, but she has never had a day in her life that wasn't totally MANIC!!! She is such a blur of activity that she makes MY head spin (and I'm no sluggard, myself!)!

Khyra, you are so sweet to rationalize on her behalf that we all have our moments...but, it really is far more sinister than just a moment now and then. I love Rivie to pieces...bum around with her all the time...but, frankly, she DOES have a deeply engrained psychotic streak that pops out now and again. But, I guess that makes her all the more interesting to hang around...kind of keeps your adrenalin up, like playing Russion Roulette to relieve the tedium of your boredom!
